She and Sam are members of Kern Heights Baptist Church in De Queen. Helen was said to be a sweet, kind, and patient lady. She was very involved with her daughter’s lives, having made a number of outfits, uniforms, and formal attire for any activity the girls were involved with. Helen was a homemaker and accomplished seamstress, having spent her life raising and caring for the needs of her daughters and grandchildren. Helen married the love of her life, Samuel Andrew Phillips, on August 15, 1947, in Brownwood, Texas, and to this union, three daughters were born. Helen was born the youngest of two children to Leonard Mills and Ola Mae Seely Eason on November 22, 1929, in Plainview, Texas. Helen Joyce Eason Phillips, age 93, resident of De Queen, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, April 8, 2023, with family by her side. You may leave a condolence online at Mrs. Interment will follow, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home in De Queen. Sonny Ayers will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Old Center Cemetery with Bro.

Sonny leaves to cherish his memory, three sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Kaye Ayers of Horatio, Dan and Lorine Ayers of De Queen, and Tim and Christy Ayers of Lockesburg one daughter and son-in-law, Kayla and Jim Nottingham of Lockesburg a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Travis Everitt of Eustace, Texas as well as number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents his loving wife of seventy-one years, Athel Ayers and two sisters, Bobbie Boone and Nola Fant. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, old country music, watching Fox News, and spending time with his family and friends. He worked a number of years for Truman Arnold Trucking Company and was a member of the Lockesburg First Baptist Church. In 1945, Sonny joined the United States Air Force, faithfully serving until his honorable discharge in September of 1947. He married the love of his life, Athel June Fant, on June 12, 1948, in Nashville, and to this union, three sons and a daughter were born. Sonny, as he was known to family and friends, was born the oldest of four children to Sherman Cecil and Erma Edna Pickett Ayers on June 29, 1927, in Horatio, Arkansas. Willie Faye “Sonny” Ayers, age 95, resident of Lockesburg, Arkansas, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, April 9, 2023.
